These images relate to Steve Waterman's investigation of spherical sections taken from a Close Cubic Packing of spheres.

The programs to generate domes having their vertices joined with struts forming the octet truss was written at Steve's request. The core code of the programs producing the images here was based on a program written by Paul Bourke. It can be found in his section on Waterman Polyhedra.

Root 50 Prime  Med    Lrg
Description : This view of a prime highlighted root 50 cluster is a 1/48th section which, by successive reflections, can make up the whole cluster.

Root 50-40 Dome  Med    Lrg
Description : Dome filled with octet truss. The outer frame is the convex hull of a root 50, and the inner frame is the convex hull of a root 40.
